Following steps are required to use and instantiate FMUs as single components Exciter, Turbine-governor and Stabilizer. This feature is only available through Excel Template v2.0.

  1. Add the FMU name in the respective component Type list. Example: Exciter FMU name AC7B is added in the Exciter tab Type list as shown in figure below.

  2. At the end of the Excel sheet, following the native component data blocks, add rows for FMU data blocks with headers similar to the native components as shown in figure below. Note that there must be one empty row between each data blocks as row 90 in the following figure.

    • Add exact exported FMU name in the first column of first row. Example, AC7B is added to cell A91 in the above figure,
    • The second row headers must begin with ID and Machine ID, which defines the ID of FMU and its connection point to the power system,
    • Add all the exact parameter names required by the FMU in any order after Machine ID,
    • Add parameter values in the next rows for each instance of the component as shown in the figure above.

  3. Using above steps 1 and 2, several types of FMUs can be imported in the same page. Figure below shows the Excel Template with seven FMUs imported. Note that any data row can be commented in the Excel file by adding ‘//’ to the leftmost cell of that row, as shown in figure below for exciter ex5.


  • ID value must be unique.
  • The parameter names must be exactly the same as the ones used in Modelica code of the FMU.
  • There is no limits in the number of FMU instances, except the existing memory usage.
  • One empty row must be kept between each data blocks of native or FMU.
