The OP6200 chassis allows to manage several power rails, that are used internally to power the chassis' I/O boards, or externally to connect external components via the banana jacks of the power backplane located at the rear of the chassis. Power moding designates the selective activation of a combination of these power rails, based on parameters controlled by the operator (battery and rail enable controls, position of the Key Switch State) and general system condition (battery status, error conditions).

The eight power moded outputs are ACC, RADIO, CRANK, IGN3, IGN1, IGN0, MP S1 (or UD1), MP S2 (or UD2).  These moded power outputs reflect the value of the battery input of the power backplane. The voltage range of this input must respect the Operating voltage range of the battery. The input is protected with a 25 A fuse and each of the moded power outputs operates up to 25 A (). The power backplane is designed with low resistance between the battery input and any of the moded power outputs (typically less than 25 mΩ).

Eight combinations of the activated rails, the power modes, are made available to the user. These modes are identified as ACC, OFF/LOCKED, UNLOCK, RUN, CRANK, OFF, SPARE 1, SPARE 2. These modes are fully programmable, via the Power Rails checkboxes section of the Base module configuration panel. The selection of the active power mode is then controlled by the operator at run-time via the Key Switch state knob of the Base Module run-time panel.

The default mode configurations are presented in the table below. For each mode, HI means that the output is shorted to the battery input, and LO means that the output is opened. This is the default configuration loaded automatically when the reference model is started.

Additionnally :

    • the moded outputs are gated by the rail enable controls. Any change made to the rail enable controls is immediately reflected in the state of the power moding outputs. See the Power Monitoring and Control section for more details.
    • when the battery line is disabled, via the Battery Control State switch of the Base Module run-time panel, all moded outputs are opened.
